Well, to be honest there is no sand, beach, loud tiki music, or someone cracking open coconuts but for Denver, it’s pretty close!

Now, you may be thinking I’m late to the party since this tiki bar has been around for a minute but somehow, I just found out about it —

Starting with a negative, I was slightly upset that they did not have dedicated parking since I had just come from running errands however, there was some street parking, so I just parked there.

On a positive note, upon entry, there are these tall tiki statutes by the door. If you sit at the bar, closest to the entry door, you can have views of the entire inside of the restaurant. The lighting was very dark inside but there was enough light and splashes of color to see the smiling faces of the bartenders and the people having a good time.

Tiki Drinky

Since I managed to make it during happy hour, I decided to start with the mystery shot.

Unfortunately, that mystery shot was not what I was hoping for but luckily for you, they always change so it won’t be the same. For an actual drink, I wanted something that would get straight to the point, and I was pointed to the Zombie.

The Zombie actually has a limit of two per person and is a mix of Bacardi, 151, House-made Falernum and Grenadine, Cinnamon Syrup, Grapefruit and Lime Juice with a dash of Absinthe. I loved the cup! The cups and glasses were what also helped to bring this place another level, other than the lead bartender Corey.

Tiki Appetizers

After you can get the Zombie down, you should probably order some food. I started with the Pele duck wings, which are duck drumettes tossed in a Gochujang Glaze and topped with Mango Fresno Chili Peppers Peanuts and Scallions. I loved the light heat and sweetness that the wings allowed to dance on your tastebuds.

For my next drink, I ordered the big-boy, it was the Voodoo punchbowl. It was so fun to drink, and it was nice to watch Corey to put together. I highly recommend for date night or small groups since the serving sizes are actually 2-4. The drink contained a blend of aged Rums, House-made Grenadine, Pineapple and Lime Juices, and Absinthe. It was also topped with a Champagne Split.

Another small plate that you have to get it if you go, is the Gochujang glazed Pork Belly sliders, they are topped with a Ginger Miso Slaw and served on Hawaiian Rolls. Oh man! These were so good, the pork was very tender and juicy, which made this my favorite appetizer of the night.

Don’t worry, they didn’t just serve meat apps, there were other options for vegetarians such as edamame hummus and volcano fries which I heard rave reviews about from the people next to me. I will have to go back and try a dinner entrée, but I just didn’t see or hear about anything I had to try or have that night.

Overall, this was a fun tiki themed place to enjoy tropical style drinks. It is great for date nights, solo visits and groups since it since you were able to either sit at the bar, high top tables, booths or outside, surprisingly, there are two patios outback that could accommodate any size group. I appreciated the diversity throughout the restaurant, as a person of color, I felt welcomed here.

Lastly, Corey was an awesome bartender and really gave a wonderful tiki bar show, the care and attention he provides will be sure to allow you to enjoy Adrift.

TIP: Be sure to set a reservation if coming during happy hour or for the weekend nights, it can get really lively.
