Hotel Stays

Intercontinental Presidente

For the first leg of the trip, I stayed at the Intercontinental Presidente. It is located about 15 mins from the Cozumel International Airport or about a $15-$20 taxi ride. As part of the prestigious InterContinental Hotels & Resorts collection under the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), this luxury brand is synonymous with premium accommodations, top-tier amenities, and a commitment to delivering a lavish experience for both business and leisure travelers.

Upon arrival at the resort, I appreciated the security entrance to even get on the property. The bellman were highly attentive and ran to the car to get our bags and lead us to the front desk to check in. Although it was raining upon arrival, the layout of the property made sure that you did not get wet nor any of your belongings, prior to getting to your room.

The natural landscaping of the resort was gorgeous!

Room & Room Amenities

Since I booked the room through the Amex Travel Website, of course I received my $100 room credit for food, spa or drinks. Additionally, my room was upgraded upon arrival so talk about a nice birthday surprise.

The upgraded room included a bathroom with an indoor and an outdoor shower,

a private water closet and an extensive closet to hang clothing, put away suitcases, ironing equipment and a electronic safe.

The main featured more than enough space with a king bed, a flat screen TV, wall art and sliding doors that opened to the walk out deck which had a path leading to the private pool.

Picture yourself on your birthday, surrounded by the serene beauty of Cozumel.

Iberostar’s All-Inclusive Cozumel Resort

During the second leg of the trip, I was supposed to take a ferry over to party in Playa Del Carmen however, due to the excessive high winds causing rough waves, I moved my reservation to another IHG property called Iberostar, located further south down the coast of Cozumel.

This resort is known for its beachfront setting, bungalow suites, lush tropical surroundings, wildlife and being all-inclusive. The property was gorgeous upon arrival, and it felt as though it was in a very secure location.

One thing about all-inclusive locations is that you are welcomed with a bar, HELLO! After checking in, that is where I headed while waiting on the room to be ready. Once the room was ready, I put my stuff down and started exploring the property (with drink in hand).

This hotel offered amenities such as the beach, a huge sparkling pool with a pool bar, a kid’s pool, a kid’s playground, 4 restaurants and numerous water activities.

All the rooms had a private patio and a hammock, mine came with a peacock.

Seeing and interacting with the wildlife was amazing. There are flamingoes, coatis, peacocks, iguanas and other lizards, native birds and a couple of gorgeous parrots, cats.

Food and Drinks

Mexico is famous for its tacos & tequilas, and Cozumel is no exception.

I don’t think there is much of a surprise, but when I wasn’t enjoying Margaritas and tacos, I was trying other local staples, Cozumel’s location along the Caribbean Sea means fresh and flavorful seafood (my favorite).

I also enjoyed dishes like Fresh grilled lobster, prawns, Snapper Ceviche, Steak Quesadillas, Tamales, Fresh Guacamole and Salsas.

Cap off your birthday with a sunset beachfront dinner.

I am not a fan of the taste of coconut, but there were many Caribbean Coconut drinks if that tickles your fancy.

I had an unforgettable birthday trip to Cozumel, Mexico, and as I reflect on the incredible moments, the true joy that this island evoked is hard to put into words. From the luxurious stay at the Intercontinental Presidente to the natural wonders of the island, every aspect of this journey has been a celebration in itself.

Cozumel, with its pristine beaches, vibrant marine life, and warm hospitality, allowed me to truly be in the moment, to slow down and understand the feeling of happiness in my heart.

Heading to Cozumel? You won’t have to worry about finding serenity to celebrate yourself. Cozumel offers a plethora of options, from your hotel room to the ability to immerse yourself in stunning natural landscapes or indulge in the diverse culture and culinary offerings. This trip is calling you! The echoes of my Cozumel celebration still linger, reminding me that sometimes, the best gifts are the experiences we carry with us.
